    • Review to follow. Nutshell review: This is a really sweet, thoughtful story in which a physically fragile boy's love for an elderly horse helps him gain self esteem and an appreciation for his own position in the world. This sounds preachy, but the book isn't at all. It was written in the 1950's, but I think it held up really well to a modern-day reading, without feeling dated or anything, because the story itself is timeless.

    • Golden Mare by William Corbin is a very touching and eye-opening book about a little boy and his horse. Magic was a golden palomino mare that belonged to a little boy named Robin. Robin couldn’t do all the things that all his brothers and the other kids could do because he had a heart problem and he couldn’t keep up with them. Magic wasn’t a very pretty horse and she wasn’t good at anything but Robin stilled loved her more than anything. They are put in a very hard situation and they are [...]

    • This book is called Golden Mare. The author is Pers Crowell number of pages is 122. This book has alot of charcters but the two main ones are magic wich is the golden mare and robin the boy. The settings are barn, house, gravel road, woods, and a girls house. its about a boy and a golden mare he loves her and she is not like the other horses and there is alot to say because i woud give the book away so that is all. It is a good book if you like horses and adventure.

    • Robbie, a "Tiny Tim" type character, finds much needed self-confidence in his friendship with a horse who has been written off as past her prime. The story unfolds slowly, and Robbie's disability is never fully explained but rather alluded to as a reason for some of his actions and limitations. This allows us to enter his world rather than to be told about it. That's what makes this a gem of a novel, and what makes it a timeless tale. It's a coming of age story which will touch your heart.

    • What a delightful little tale. It's the story of a boy recovering from illness who bonds with an old mare. As he grows the mare returns his love and becomes stronger. The boy's life on the ranch is limited by his frailty with all family members protecting him. This is about growing up and learning to take responsibility in his family. Wonderfully done.
