    • Dollycas’s ThoughtsThis is an excellent whodunit!Kit Marshall’s life is good. She lives with her wealthy boyfriend and they share a lovable beagle named Clarence. She works for Senator Lyndon Langsford and her boyfriend works mostly from home. They have what I would call a very comfortable relationship.Kit was unable to present a memo to Senator Langsford yesterday so she goes in early to work to insure that he has it before a very important committee meeting. She is surprised that her boss [...]

    • Washington intrigue written in cozy mystery style, STABBING IN THE SENATE is a wonderful beginning to a promising new series. When I first saw this book I wasn’t sure if it would be like the cozies I read and review. While it surely isn’t a small town story, my worries were unfounded. STABBING IN THE SENATE is an amazing mystery that fans of all mysteries, no matter the sub-genre, can and will enjoy.I really enjoyed getting to know Protagonist Kit Marshall very much. She felt very real to me [...]

    • An interesting snapshot into the world of Senate staffers from a Capitol Hill insider. Political intrigue, mystery, and a rescue beagle named Clarence. What more could you ask for?

    • I thought this book was excellent. I couldn't believe it was the author's first book. Everything about this book from the first chapter has you wanting more and not wanting it to end.The main character in the book, Kit is an up and coming staffer on Capital Hill. She is working her dream job with Senator Langsford, living with a wonderful man in a great condo with the cutest dog a beagle mix named Clarence. She believes in everything that the Senator stands for and has been with him since the be [...]

    • Senate Staffer, Kit Marshall arrives at work early to make sure her boss receives a memo she wrote. She’s shocked when she finds her boss, Senator Langsford, murdered with his own model helicopter. Trying to help him, she touches the murder weapon and naturally becomes the prime murder suspect. In fact, according to the police, the only murder suspect. All other possibilities have ironclad alibis. To make matters worse, Kit’s photo is all over the internet which doesn’t sit well with her bo [...]

    • I would give this 3 1/2 to 4 stars. I liked that it was set in Washington DC and in the Congressional offices, that is a new location for me. Kit does what all newbies to a crime scene do, touch the murder weapon and therefore make themselves a suspect. Of course she then has to go about clearing her name.I thought the book was well written and I did not suspect who the killer ended up being. I was on the right track but thought it was someone else. The characters were realistic with a good mix [...]

    • I was given an advanced copy of Stabbing in the Senate in exchange for a review. Colleen J. Shogan's debut novel was excellent. I did not know the killer before the end, which is rare for me. The insight into the daily life of Senate staffers was detailed but fast paced enough to keep the pages turning. The main characters were ones I found myself thinking I could be friends with and have a great time. Kit was very relatable, at least to me. I hope this is not the last time I solve a mystery with [...]

    • I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. Here it is.I found it to be very interesting.I was hooked from the first page and didn't want to put it down. I had no idea who the murderer was which is was a good thing.

    • **I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.**In Washington, DC, the political game can often get exceedingly cutthroat. When it comes to pushing your own political agenda, one really doesn't want to be on the receiving end of some of those staffers and lobbyists, because the claws definitely come out. While in the real world, it's been quite some time since someone occupying a seat in the House of Representatives or the US Senate has been deliberately targe [...]

    • I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Kit Marshall had worked for Senator Langsford four years as his staff as legal assistant. One day, she reported early to work hoping to sneak a memo on his desk that he would need later for his meeting. She knew the protocol was never to enter unless he was there, but she felt this tiny breach could slide only to discover that some one had stabbed him and thinking he was she could save him she pulled out the murder weapon with the force sett [...]

This is the first in a series of books about Kit, a staffer who works in the Senate, and her friend and fellow sleuth, Meg. When Kit is the first on the scene of a murder, she and her friend use their inside knowledge and contacts to try to solve the murder and clear her reputation. • Colleen Shogan's first book in her Washington Whodunit series is definitely a page turner. She had me guessing the identity of the killer right to the end, along with Kit and Meg. Highly recommend this book for mystery readers as well as political junkies. I look forward to reading the next books in the series.

    • A light-hearted romp through the hallowed halls of Congress. Senate staffer turned sleuth, Kit and her sidekick Meg, must find the murderer who stabbed their boss with a miniature helicopter. If you like cozy mysteries with a small dash of politics, this could be a good series for you. P

    • Great Washington Who Done ItI would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the combo of mystery and politics. I thought the book was very skillfully put together,

    • Review first appeared on Brooke Blogs. I received a copy of the book for review purposes, but my honest opinion was not influenced in any way.Stabbing in the Senate by Colleen J. Shogan is the first book in the Washington Whodunit series. Kit is a Congressional staffer working for Senator Langsford. When she arrives to work early and finds his body, she becomes a suspect. With lots of motives and people you can’t trust, Kit is trying to find out who the murderer is – to get justice for Senat [...]

    • This is a well-written debut novel. The author has been a part of the group of people she writes about, and her personal knowledge shows in her vivid descriptions of people and scenarios. The main character has a seemingly nearly perfect life: a job with a senator, a wonderful man with whom she shares a fabulous condo, and an adorable beagle named Clarence. When she discovers her boss murdered in his office and becomes the prime suspect, life starts to fall apart little by little. The story is fi [...]

    • I loved this whodunit, by a first-time mystery author, and not just because I’m a political junkie. It’s fast-paced, well-written, fun to read, and has a “well-disguised” murderer. Anyone who has ever worked on Capitol Hill, or wants to, will especially appreciate the details of everyday life in Congress: the food in the Senate cafeteria; staffers’ favorite after-hours bars (clue: they are different for the Senate and the House); the roles and hierarchy in a Senate office; descriptions [...]

    • This book was a very good start to a new series. I really enjoyed this author's writing style. In fact I could not put this book down and read it in two days. You can tell that the author has used her experience as a Senate staffer to write this book. Her attention to detail was very good. I really liked Kit but I have to say that sometimes her friend Meg annoyed me. I can't wait to read more about their adventures in the upcoming books in this series. As well as I would like to see how Kit and [...]

    • Kit Marshall a staffer on the Hill is accused of killing a Senator. Although she is exonerated, she still loses her job. With the help of a friend, who also has lost her job, they begin to investigate the senators death. Because of being a staffer, they still have access to many people and many places. The reader has an inside look at the comings and goings of life on the inside of the Hill from a staffer's point of view. This was an excellent first book. Colleen created a cast of likable characte [...]

    • I did not figure out who the killer was, however I thought this books was very back and forth. It would have a strong story line and then often veer off with useless details or information. At times I felt like the characters were behaving like teenagers. I got a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

    • I received an ARC to write an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. Politics, a murder mystery, local Washington DC color . . . . It is well written and I absolutely loved my inability to solve the murder before the end of the story! I'm looking forward to the next book in Colleen's Washington Whodunit series!

    • I thoroughly enjoyed this tale of murder and mystery in the inner workings of the Senate. Seeing events from an insider's perspective was quite interesting to me. I love reading a mystery and learning at the same time. Thank you, Colleen Shogun.
